King Duncan I was born in 1001 and died 14th August 1040. He was the son of Crinan, lay abbot of Dunkeld and Bethoc, daughter of Malcolm II. Duncan succeeded his grandfather as King of Scotland 25th November 1034. He was killed in battle against Macbeth 14th August 1040.
