Siward was Earl of Northumbria. His date of birth is not known but it is known that he died in 1055. It is believed that Siward came to England after Canute conquered the country in 1016. He married Aelflaed, daughter of Ealdred of Bamburgh which further secured his position in Northumbria. He fought against the Scots and defeated Macbeth in 1054. Siward died a year later
