Short Biography
Ordwulf was the son of Ealdorman Ordgar of Devon and brother of Queen Aelfthryth, wife of King Edgar. He was a prominent member of his nephew Aethelred the Unready’s council after he became King.
Ordwulf is known to have married a lady by the name of Aelfwynn but it is not known if they had children. Ordwulf did not succeed his father as Ealdorman of Devon but is known to have had high status.
It is believed that he founded Tavistock Abbey around 974 and possibly retired there in later life. He is thought to have died sometime after 1005
