Aelfgifu of York was a member of the House of Wessex through marriage. She was the first wife of King Aethelred the Unready and the mother of Edmund Ironside.

Aelfgifu of York Short Biography
Aelfgifu of York was born around 963, the daughter of Thored of Northumberland and his wife, Hilda. In the early 980s, Aelfgifu became the wife of King Aethelred the Unready and they had nine children:

Aelfgifu of York is believed to have died in 1002 as Aethelred remarried later that year.
