Aelfgar was the son of Leofric of Mercia and Lady Godiva. He was the father of Ealdgyth who was the second wife of Harold Godwinson. His son, Edwin became Earl of Mercia while Morcar became Earl of Northumbria. Aelfgar is known to have died in 1060.
