Wulfthryth of Wessex was the wife of King Aethelred I of Wessex. Very little is known of her life and the identity of her parents is unknown. Aethelred became King in 865 and Wulfthryth became Queen consort. The couple had two children, Aethelwold and Aethelhelm. After the death of Aethelred the crown passed to Aethelred’s younger brother King Alfred the Great.
