William I (the Lion) King of Scotland 1143 – 1214

William the Lion

William was born in 1143 and died 4th December 1214. He was the son of Henry of Scotland and Ada de Warenne and became King of Scotland in 1153 after the death of his brother, Malcolm IV. He married Ermengarde de Beaumont and they had four children. William was succeeded by his son Alexander.
