Edmund was the son of Harold Godwinson, his date of birth is unknown. After his father’s death at the Battle of Hastings 14th October 1066, Edmund and his brother Godwin fled to Ireland where they raised a small invasion force and invaded Devon but were defeated. Nothing is known of them following this event. It is presumed that they lived out their lives in exile on the continent.
