Short Biography
Aethelstan was born in 985 the eldest son of King Aethelred the Unready and his first wife Aelfgifu of York. Aethelstan was known as Aetheling because he was a son of a King, the term prince was not generally used at this time.
He remained in England after the country was conquered by Sweyn Forkbeard in late 1013. Aethelstan had a reputation as a great warrior and it is thought he died fighting the Danish Vikings on 25th June 1014.
