Gunhilda of Germany 1020 – 1038

Gunhilda of Germany

Gunhilda was born in 1020 and died 8th July 1038. She was the daughter of King Canute the Great by his second wife, Emma of Normandy. She was sent to Germany at the age of 5 to live in the court of her betrothed, the future Holy Roman Emperor Henry III. They married in 1035 and had one daughter before Gunhilda died of a disease, possibly malaria.
