Short Biography
Aelfflaed was the daughter of Ealdorman Aethelhelm of Wiltshire. She was the second wife of King Edward the Elder, marrying around 901. The couple had six children, Edwin, Aelfweard, Eadgifu, Eadflaed, Eadhild and Eadgyth. It is believed that Aelfflaed died around 920 because King Edward remarried and his first son by his third wife was born in 921. She was buried in Winchester Cathedral.
